As of Sep 14, 2026 (July 2026 balance patch · The Awesome Quest season), the community ranks Healer, Dragon, Balloon, Valkyrie as the best picks (S tier) in Clash of Clans Troop Tier List, based on 194 player ratings from 8 voters.
This board ranks all 32 home village troops in Clash of Clans — the 19 Elixir troops and 13 Dark Elixir troops — by what they actually contribute to a serious ranked-league or Clan War attack at Town Hall 16-18. Army camps are finite, and since the Clash Anytime update in March 2025 removed training times entirely, the only question that matters is which units earn their housing space.
The live meta is a ground meta. Supercell's July 2026 balance update went after Dragon armies, which made up roughly a fifth of all Town Hall 18 war attacks, nerfing the Dragon Duke hero and the Dragon Rider while buffing ground. Meteor Golem and its Meteormites took the round's biggest buff, with smaller bumps for the Electro Dragon and the Druid. Root Rider holds S because it still solves the wall problem outright and remains the backbone of Queen Charge, smash and high-Town-Hall war strategies. Dragon, Balloon and Valkyrie hold S on the strength of how many armies simply do not function without them; Balloon in particular is rarely the main damage dealer and still makes almost every air comp. Healer rounds out the top band on Supercell's own numbers — Throwers backed by Healers was the second-most-popular Town Hall 18 war army of the season.
The A row is where the specialists live. Headhunter hunts enemy heroes down and slows them, a staple of CWL and Legend League attacks. Electro Titan and Yeti bring the raw funnel-clearing weight, Baby Dragon does the honest supporting work in air comps, and Thrower has settled in as the strongest Town Hall 16 tactic — though it wants a Healer behind it. Ice Golem and Furnace round out the Dark Elixir side.
Two placements deserve a note. Meteor Golem is the marquee Town Hall 18 Elixir troop and was strong enough on release to be nerfed quickly — then over-corrected, and only partly restored by the July buff, which brought it back to viable rather than back to launch strength. It sits in B until the meta says otherwise. Ruin Witch, added in the Anime Fury update on 16 June 2026, is the roster's genuine unknown: she never attacks at all, instead summoning up to eight Ruin Knights with a combined 32,000 hit points from the rubble of destroyed buildings. She unlocks at Dark Barracks level 13 and costs 26 housing space, so she is run as support — two to four at a time, behind troops that reliably generate the debris her summon cycle feeds on. Almost no published tier list ranks her yet; this board is where that gets decided.
Super Troops, Builder Base troops and Clan Capital troops are ranked separately and are deliberately not mixed in here. Balance passes land every few weeks and keep reshuffling the order, so treat these as the current consensus rather than settled fact. Think the P.E.K.K.A is criminally underrated or that the Bowler has no business outside S? The vote buttons are right there.
The Elephant Rider is deliberately absent. It arrived on 9 August 2026 as a free mass-troop giveaway and then folded into the Awesome Medal Event on 12 August and is a genuinely interesting unit — a Root Rider/Valkyrie hybrid that walks through walls while swinging in an arc — but it is a temporary event troop: it can only be trained until 31 August, and it cannot be taken into war. A board about which units earn permanent army-camp space is the wrong place to rank something you lose at the end of the month.
