Clash of Clans is Supercell's long-running base-building strategy game, and in the Town Hall 18 era its competitive heart is the attack: ranked leagues and Clan Wars are decided by how well your six heroes — Barbarian King, Archer Queen, Minion Prince, Grand Warden, Royal Champion and the new Dragon Duke — are kitted out. Hero equipment is forged and upgraded at the Blacksmith with three scarce ores that trickle in from wars, leagues and events, so every level you put into one item is a level every other item doesn't get. Pets from the Pet House add a second loadout layer, each pairing better with some heroes than others. Because ore and pet upgrades are brutally slow to farm, picking the right investments — not just the shiniest new item — is the difference between climbing and hitting a wall.
